Truths of traveling

No matter how well-behaved one's children are, 15 1/2 hours of flying and 24 hours being awake is still a long, long, long time.

If there are going to be video screens not working, they will be the ones in front of Sophia and Kathleen and as a result their mother gets to watch cartoons.

No matter what the airplane provides for food - omelets, pasta, plain old rolls, cake, yogurt, chips, candy bars - my children will refuse to eat it leaving two perfectly good untouched meals in favor of gummy bears and goldfish.

Said gummy bears and goldfish on an empty stomach with insufficient water may lead to a very painful problem for certain children the next day.

If one is pregnant and traveling with two small children, the best service to be found is in the Middle East - you may have to pay for it, but it's much better than having your three year-old push your 18 month-old in the stroller while you heft 50-lb bags up to shoulder height to push everything through customs.

Europeans have no patience, compassion, or sympathy for pregnant women or small children.

Children always fall dead asleep for the last, shortest flight in the journey.

No matter how hard traveling can be, in only lasts for a certain amount of time. Thank heaven.

I don't envy you at all for flying that far with two kids. Glad to hear you arrived with both girls still alive! Good luck with the delivery, etc. I can't wait to see pictures of baby Edwin!

Not Xander. He doesn't fall asleep at all without a bed...

Glad you've made it home safely and I totally agree. Europeans have no compassion for pregnant women! I wonder why that is? Probably because most of them haven't had kids themselves...

Glad you arrived safe and sound and it sounds like, even sane.

Oh Ashley, I am so glad you got to the US safely. I was thinking about how difficult traveling for
so long would be without kids or being pregnant, let alone two children ages three and younger and a nice uncomfortable belly to go along with it... I am so happy you all survived!! Now rest and get ready for Edwin's debut!!
Hope everything goes smoothly! Love you guys!!

Did they pat down your belly when you went through security in Germany. When I was traveling 7 months pregnant with Madie and had Meg in a hiking backpack...they seriously patted down my stomach...just wondering if they do that to ever preggo person, or if I just got lucky!!! Glad you made it.

I'm glad you made it!

When I went to Greece earlier this year, pregnant, with a toddler, alone, the custom's guy pulled me to the front of the line. People started complaining and he told them that having a small child is a handicap and since he just helped a man in a wheelchair to the front of the line I got the same privilege.

I just about kissed his feet.

And those truths really are the truth, aren't they?
